John M. Heller was an American Painter born in St. Louis Missouri in 1891 and who died in St. Louis in 1971. He was friends and studied under the great American impressionist, Richard Miller.  In addition, he studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy, St. Louis School of Fine Arts, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and was a graduate of Washington University Art School. He also studied in England, France, and Germany. Heller taught at the Old Courthouse in St. Louis as part of the WPA and did many magazine illustrations while living in Philadelphia. He painted murals for the Bank of St.Louis, Boatmans Bank, Paul Brown Building, Baden Bank, Mercantile Library, Racquet Club, Schober’s Restaurant and murals in Indiana, North Dakota and Pennsylvania.
